Position Summary:
The Senior Legal Counsel will provide high-level legal advice and support to senior management and business units, ensuring the organization's operations comply with applicable laws and regulations. The role requires a proactive, commercially-minded legal professional capable of managing complex corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters.

Key Responsibilities:
-Provide legal advice and guidance to senior management and business units on corporate, commercial, regulatory, and compliance matters.
-Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements, contracts, and corporate documents.
-Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and governance requirements in Malaysia and relevant jurisdictions.
-Manage and oversee disputes, litigation, and other legal proceedings involving the organization.
-Support mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic investments, including conducting legal due diligence, structuring and negotiate deals and transaction and manage issues and execution.
-Advise on applicable laws and handles related matters including intellectual property, employment law, anti-bribery compliance, data protection where applicable.
-Develop, implement and monitor organization-wide legal policies, procedures, and best practices.
-Liaise and coordinate with external legal counsel, regulators, and other stakeholders.
-Guide, support and manage the legal team members to build internal capabilities.

Qualifications & Experience:
-Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent; admission to the Malaysian Bar is required.
-Minimum 10-15 years of post-qualification experience in corporate/commercial law, preferably in-house or at a reputable law firm.
-Proven experience in handling corporate, commercial, regulatory, and dispute resolution matters.
-Strong understanding of Malaysian legal and regulatory framework, with exposure to cross-border transactions being an advantage.
-Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
-Commercially minded, with the ability to provide pragmatic and actionable legal advice with diverse industries exposures.
-Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
-Experience in managing external counsel and legal budgets
