The client is a Europan MNC with its regional office in Malaysia. It is one of the world's largest suppliers of contact lenses, lens care products, amongst other pharmaceuticals products.
They are looking for Regional Legal Counsel APAC to be based in its office in Malaysia. Ideal candidates should have 8 to 12 years of legal experience (including private practice experience in reputable law firms previously) AND experience in providing legal support to businesses in ASEAN countries. Candidates should have experience in healthcare / pharmaceutical industries.

Provide sound, efficient and effective legal services and advice to business functions in ASEAN, including:
- Reviewing, drafting, advising on and negotiating all forms of contracts for the region;
- Ensuring the timely provision of advice to internal clients on a wide range of legal issues (such as privacy, competition, intellectual property and employment law issues);
- Advising the business on changes in laws and regulations;
- Supervising external counsel and monitoring associated fees;
- Leading corporate governance for regions covered;
- Resolving disputes and managing litigation;
- Intellectual property protection and enforcement;
- Supporting regional BD & M&A activities;
- Developing templates, processes and policies;
- Reviewing promotional materials (as required);
- Managing contracts depositary for regions covered.
- LLB or above
- At least 8 years' experience gained in-house or in a reputable firm (essential);

- Experience in healthcare and/or pharmaceutical products is a MUST
- Strong experience in general corporate and commercial law across one or, ideally, more Asian markets (essential);
- Background in/understanding of Intellectual property protection and enforcement;
- Experience in pharmaceuticals/medical device industry (desirable);
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to communicate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders across different cultures;
- Thrives under pressure;
- Ability and willingness to work in fast-paced and lean organization;
- Solution-focused, resourceful and show initiative;
